Nancy, Wednesday, February 24th:

Here are some pictures of day one and two:

A strong player from Germany!

Adjusting the pieces ...

... and answering some question of the international press ;)

One day later there was a large report in the local newspaper,
with a small picture of the top board GM Posty (Israel) vs. Granda Zuniga (Peru)
and a big picture of ... Can you guess it? ;)

Nancy, Thursday, February 25th:

I'm very disappointed! 0-0-0 After 6 rounds I only scored 2 points. My Elo performance so far: 1806.
Unforced errors, wrong plans, false strategic decisions ... poor play! In the 2nd game today a young boy totally outplayed me in a Nimzoindian.
After the opening his position was difficult, but then he concentrated and thought for a long time (while I was walking around) suddenly broke through the center, sacrificed a bishop and a rook and I had to resign before I was mated.

The strong player from Germany was doing much better. He scored 3.5 out of 6!
The glance of a winner!

Darmstadt, Tuesday, March 2nd:

I made a draw in round 7, lost again in round 8 and won the last round on Sunday with a lot of luck because after the opening again my postion was very bad. So finally I scored 3.5/9 [-4 =3 +2].

Although he had to leave the tournament on Saturday morning, the strong player got 4.5 out of 7 games [-0 =3 +3]!

You can see all results, photos, games etc ... on the tournament website.
